Meaning “finder” or “seeker” in Arabic, WAAJEED (born Robert O’Bryant) is one half of the Platinum Pied Pipers and founder of record label Bling47, known for releasing landmark projects by J Dilla as well as vocalist Tiombe Lockhart. A DJ, producer, composer and arranger, O’Bryant has four titles but speaks in triads: Things aren’t dope, they’re “dope, dope, dope”. Something isn’t heavy but “really, really, really” heavy. It’s symbolic of his passion for just about everything in life, which is tempered only by the reality of growing up in the rough-and-tumble city of Detroit, MI.

Alaclair High’s valedictorian is also co-captain of the Piu Piu spaceship. His Craqnuques color series is now the stuff of legend and his prodigious output continues to inspire his peers and a whole generation of up-and-coming Beat Builders. If Vlooper coined Piu Piu, KenLo is the one who made it take flight.

Richard is his real name, but once his parents started calling him Shash’U (chachou) it just kind of stuck. A composer and producer for over ten years now, his influences are an eclectic mix channeled through Hip-Hop, Funk & Electro. As a signee to Silence D’Or, Shash’U has landed placements on albums by Karma Atchykah, Sarahmée, Treizième Etage, Koriass, etc. He is internationally-known for his street dancer anthems, with his music serving as the backdrop for dance competitions all over the globe, such as the Juste Debout meet in Paris, France.

Interdimensional super-villain and the self-described product of “Mother Jazz and Father Hip-Hop, divorced but recently remarried”, ALAIZ member Dr. MaD is an ABMTL favorite and will be showcasing his dedicated audio manipulations and sample-based collages.

When chief Booty Baker PHIL SPARKZ was inspired to remix “Shampoing Fortifiant” off the seminal “’90s Babies Vol.1”, it led to a series of collaborations with Alaiz architect MUSONI. Featuring Noah Barer, Alex Mclean, Dr. MaD, KenLo, Malky, Shash’U, Munno, Bongiovanni, Guilty and Tommy Kruise, Shampoing & Toner is perhaps the first true beat “tape” in a very long time, as it will not only be released on MusicIsMySanctuary’s Bandcamp but also on physical cassettes (only 100 hand-numbered copies), which will be available for purchase at the event!
